I'm Drinking to Celebrate National Running Day!

So, yes, I realize that yesterday was National Running Day. I did have the best of intentions of running yesterday. Really, I did. 'Cuz I'm a runnah. Sort of. Whatevs.

But my outside rep, Kim, was in town and well, I ended up drinking a lot of Cherry flavored vodka instead. (Thanks, Tara, for getting me hooked on flavored vodka!)

I am in love.  (source)

Since this is a running(ish) blog, after all, I figured I should at least add my own contribution to the tons of runners that are blogging, tweeting and facebooking about their awesome National Running Day long runs. I celebrated your awesomeness by having several mixed drinks in your honor. It was the right thing to do. I took one for the team.

Now I just need to locate this awesome stuff for my next drink-a-thon. I think it would be amazing in coffee.

If I can't eat gluten, I should at least be able to drink it!

I still have to finish my recaps from San Diego, but if you missed the oh-so-exciting Day 1 of my recap you can read it here.

  1. WHAT? I missed National Running Day? Aw, man!

That vodka looks amazing - wonder if we can get that stuff here? And I agree - it would be excellent in coffee. :)

I bought an e-book by a PT who is also a runner and triathlete. It has assessment tests and matching exercises for correcting posture and muscle pair imbalances which can lead to running injuries.

After going through all the tests, I've concluded my body is pretty much a shambles at the moment, and I'd be crazy to even try running. My whole torso is twisted, and I'm now more aware of it - like, all the time. I get in the car, start to drive and then realize the right side of my body is angled ahead of the left. When I straighten myself out, it feels WEIRD, like I'm twisting the OTHER way. No wonder I kept injuring myself!

So, I'm going to work on that, but in the meantime, I'm looking at taking up cycling as an alternative for cardio and general fitness. As soon as I get a job (or an income, anyway) I'm going to buy me a bike. I'm not giving up on running, but not sure I'll sign up for any more races - I may just do it recreationally.

But I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, girl! :)

    1. Wow, sounds really interesting. My horse is like that. All of his legs look like they came from different horses! Lol! So, we work him differently depending on which direction we're going.

Biking should be fun. It's certainly good exercise!

    1. I know, I know. How can I NOT try it? I almost went on a mission to find this stuff last night, but I figured that my liver has been abused enough in the last week. :)
