But I didn't do that. I toughed it out for 4.6 miles. About 2 miles into my run I crossed paths with and older gentleman coming from the opposite direction. He waved me to a stop and we had the following conversation:
Old Dude: Does this trail lead to Tatum? (Tatum is a road)
Me: Yes, it does. You're about 2 miles away.
Old Dude: I'm training for the PF Chang's Marathon.
Me: Me too! Well, I'm only doing the half.
Old Dude: Oh. Yeah. I'm just doing the half. But I've done 27 marathons in my lifetime.
Me: Wow. I've only done one.
Old Dude: Don't worry, one day you'll do a marathon.
Me: I've actually done a marathon, but only one.
Old Dude: Don't worry, you'll do one someday. Thanks for stopping to talk with me!
And with that, he happily jogged off.
So that adds 4.6 miles on Day 5 of Janathon for a total of 14.79 miles.
What a weird conversation. I wonder if he really ran 27 marathons or was he a little confused? I did not know that PF Chang's sponsored a race. I love their food so I would definitely sign up if there was one near me!
ReplyDeletePF Chang's put on a marathon here for years and then the Rock 'n' Roll competitor group took it over. PF Chang's is still the major sponsor, but it's really a RnR race now. I love PFC, too. Mmmmm!
DeleteThat's funny. He's probably one of those people who only reads the first line of an email before responding.
ReplyDeleteI felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. ;)
Deletehahahaha!!
ReplyDeleteStill jealous of that RNRAZ medal!
You need to come out here and do it next year!
DeleteHa way to listen dude. So are you still running for janathon?? I knew I'd never manage it this year...maybe a marchathon or more like april2016athon is more up my alley
ReplyDeleteApparently I can't do anything that is a daily requirement. Except tv watching. THAT I can do like a champ.
