Apple iProducts Versus runDisney

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (we'll call that land "Arizona"), I was an Android phone owner. I know, I know! What was I thinking?!

I never get tired of using this picture.

You see, I was a long time t-Mobile customer. And when I say "long time" I'm not joking. I joined T-Mobile when it was still called Voicestream. So yeah, like 12 years. That's practically enough time for my Prince to come rescue me from my contract with a kiss, right?

When the iPhones first appeared, I figured there was no way they could really be that much better than the Google phones being pushed by T-Mobile. Which is just laughable in hindsight because the G1 and the G2 were crappy phones by all standards; Apple and Android alike.

Finally, in July 2012, I ditched T-Mobile (they still didn't have the iPhone then) and joined Verizon just because at some point I figured that I needed the iPhone since all of the cool kids had iPhones. I immediately fell in love with my iPhone and have had an unhealthy relationship with it ever since.

I can't help it, I had to post this.

You know what that means! My two year contract was up in July and I'm ready to upgrade my 4s for the magical iPhone 6. Now mind you, my 4s has been an awesome phone and I really have no need for a new one, but I really, really want the 6.

My precioussssss

Also...an Apple Watch? Do I need that? Of course not, but I want it. Which means my brain is obsessing about how to get my grubby paws on these items without selling my soul to the devil for money.

Gah. I'm probably going to need this, too.

So, how is this related to runDisney? Well, because iPhone mania reminds me a wee bit of the runDisney mania that occurs right before a new race is announced or registration opens for a runDisney event.

Apparently, Apple.com had a count down to this morning's announcement on their website and they had planned to do a live broadcast so everyone could drool into their iPads over the new products but sadly, it crashed. Just like Active.com does every time a runDisney race opens for registration.

I hear there was tons of pissed off tweeting and the like. I don't know for sure because I'm too lazy to log on to twitter to find out. But that sounds like every time I lurk on the runDisney Facebook page. Ahhhh, nostalgia.

I'm not really sure that I have a point here, but just know that I've gone bat shit crazy about needing to know everything about the iPhone 6 and I'm aware in some little corner of my mind that I'm exhibiting signs of being a lunatic. Just like the mild anxiety attacks I get when runDisney registrations open up and I suddenly feel a compulsion to sign up for a race I don't even really want to do because ZOMG, runDisney!!

Yup.

So yeah, I'm totally getting the iPhone 6...anyone else jumping on the iCrazyTrain with me?

  1. You kill me. I am so electronically challenged, that my iphone is still the 4 and I never want to change it out. But of course eventually the battery will go and I will be forced to change to the newer model and I will have a heart attack trying to figure it out.....maybe a few drinks would help.

    1. Trust me when I say you're in a much better place than me. If you're happy with the 4, all the better. Plus, you can then upgrade to whatever the free version is a be happy. I always want what I can't have so I'm constantly wanting the latest thing even if it is too technologically advanced for me.

Also, wine is ALWAYS the answer to my problems.

  2. Haha love this analogy! I can get a new phone in December so I think I'll be asking for the 6 for Christmas. Hopefully by then they'll have all of the kinks worked out and it will be a great phone!

    1. You have a point- I really should probably wait until the links get worked out but I know I won't be able to hold out. LOL!

  3. I am going to shock you but I have never had an iphone. I my last four phones have all been Blackberry. You can laugh now but I LOVE it! I could not imagine not having the physical keyboard and I love that it fits perfectly inside the pocket of my running skirts ( is it bad that that IS a requirements of all my phones?) That is something the iphone and the Samsung Gallaxey does not do. My husband has both the I phone and the Gallaxey and actually prefers the Gallaxey to the I-phone ( one is a work phone and one is personal. He doesn't actually walk around with 2 phones..lol). Anyway, just my 2 cents! I hope you are able to get what you want and if you get that watch, please do a review. I'd love to see what that's all about!

    1. I couldn't imagine life without a keyboard, either...until I got myself an iPhone. I adapted, lol. I've gotten in the habit of running with a Camelbak so I just put my phone in there. I certainly understand sticking with what you like, though!

  4. No! Don't upgrade if you don't have to. I love love LOOOOOOOOVED my 4. The 5 sucks in comparison. But we also got the 5 as soon as it was released- which word to the wise, if you're dead set on a 6- WAIT! Let them get the bugs out or you will be the guinea pig.

If I wasn't so damn lazy, I'd switch to the droid solely for the camera capabilities. iphone needs to get it's shit together.

    1. Ahhhh! You're scaring me! I know I should totally wait, but one of the reasons I want it so quickly is actually for NYCM. I had planned on getting the next size up (32G) and I expected to pay an extra $100 for that... The 6 doesn't have a 32G. It goes from 16G to 64G for $100, so that was a nice surprise to find out. I'm torn- maybe I should just get a small point and shoot for NYCM...

  5. I still have a 4. When I renewed my plan they tried to get me to upgrade, but I kept turning it down. I'll hang on to it as long as possible. It does what I need it to do and I love my phone case. Now that they're messing with the sizes with each model, it's harder to find a case. You can't just pull what you like off the shelf, it has to be more specific, which kind of bums me out. As to your other point, yeah, these companies stirring the anticipation pot is getting played out. Ultimately it's going to be what it's going to be. If I find out the minute it's announced or a few hours later, the outcome is the same.

    1. My main reason to upgrade is that I want a bigger memory. I'm constantly having to delete things off of my phone because it gets filled up. *siiiiiiigggghhhh*

    2. It's too bad you can't just buy a bigger memory chip like you can with a digital camera.
